Black History Month
We took part of our rehearsal last night to Honor Black History Month and celebrate the diversity of our Chorus. What better way to celebrate than with song. We chose "Oh Happy Day"' a late '60s gospel song with its roots from an 18th-century hymn.

English Translation:
Oh! What an unbearable pain!
Oh, gracious God!
What an unbearable sorrow!
The third bell of the Cathedral just rang;
The sun set long ago behind Mount Lopital...
Mother Nature derailed, straining everyone to misery.
Large structures and small rafts have turned to dust and ashes.
Jesus, Marie, and Joseph... Grace and Mercy...
Mother Nature derailed, straining everyone to misery.
We see, but We don't understand,
It happened so suddenly.
The earth trembled!
The earth shook harder than a desert's leaf.
Help! Help! Rescue me, I beg you!
I'm at a loss for words...
Dies irae, dies illa; (Day of wrath, day of anger)
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
(Grant them eternal rest, Lord.)
Haiti! Haiti! What an unbearable pain,
Tighten your belt.
Haiti! Haiti! You Are a valiant woman,
Hang in there, don't give up...
Rubberneckers from everywhere ask: "How's it going?"... Arent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getPArent().style.display='none';">less

In it, Dromgoole tells the story of an old man who approaches a deep and wide water-filled chasm. He crosses in the evening as he is unafraid, then builds a bridge to span the tide. A fellow pilgrim questions why an old man would build the bridge, as he would surely never pass this way again in his lifetime.
The old man lifts his grey head and responds to the questioning traveler that a youth is to follow after Him. He too, would need to cross in the twilight dim. The old man ansWers, “I am building this bridge for Him.”
The commission process was an interesting and fascinating one in which to be involved. Dr. Dickau was originally approached a year or so ago by the chorale, and was inter... Arent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getPArent().style.display='none';">less
