Text (English translation):
Poetry by Alfonsina Storni
Two Words
Tonight you murmured two simple words
into my ear. Two words shopworn
from use. Words so old, They are new.
Two words so sweet The moon
floating beyond The trees' branches
pauses to fill my mouth. Words so
melodious, when an ant inches up my neck,
I make no move to brush it off.
A pair of words so sweet that despite
myself I say "How lovely life is."
Calming, gentle, They are like
scented oils poured over my body.
So sweet and beautiful
and my nervous fingers
rise toward heaven in
imitation of scissors.
Yes, tonight my fingers
would cut out The stars. less

It is a complex layered poem exploring a multitude of interactions with The morning star - in naturalistic, religious, spiritual and seemingly political terms.
Sincere thanks to MatThew Curtis (choraltracks.com) for recording "Stella."

This work is suitable for a soloist or unison choir. The accompaniment is originally scored for piano, but we have rendered it with organ accompaniment. In a liturgical setting, this work is especially suitable for Baptisms and oTher services that feature The use of sanctified water (healing and commemorative services). Equally, it would make a reflective motet for use during The distribution of Holy Communion. Many thanks to The Swell Vox crew in this video for beautifully performing The piece: Tony Lee, Caleb Smith, Andrew Flores, James Flores (organ).
