Students meet each week for a 60 minute class learning the fundamentals of synchronized moves and harmony while singing popular songs. Emphasis is placed on developing good fundamental vocal skills, part-singing, sight reading, choreography, stage presence and musicianship. The Charlotte Glee Club performs at Charlotte Academy of Music as well as community events.

This is the Choir’s 99th album to be released. Founded in the 1670s, the Choir is known for its distinctive rich, warm sound, its expressive interpretations and its breadth of repertoire. Alongside these musical characteristics, the Choir is particularly proud of its happy, relaxed and mutually supportive atmosphere. The Choir is directed by Andrew Nethsingha following a long line of eminent Directors of Music, recently Dr George Guest, Dr Christopher Robinson and Dr David Hill. The Choir is made up of around 20 Choristers and Probationers from St John’s College School and 15 Choral Scholars who are members of St John’s College, its primary purpose being to enhance the liturgy and worship at daily services in the College Chapel. The Choir is conducted by Paul Robinson and rehearses every Wednesday at the Gillingham Golf Club at 8pm. The Choir is currently looking for new members; the ability to read music is not essential, however, it is helpful and can be very useful. The Choir welcomes anyone who has a passion for singing. Like most traditional male voice choirs we learn all of our pieces from memory and do not use copies. The choir has a wide-ranging repertoire from West End showstoppers to opera, religious and traditional choral music. The Choir has gained a reputation for doing many concerts for charity and have raised a lot of money over the years for a number of different causes. The Choir has performed twice at the Royal Albert Hall with over one hundred choirs in the Festival of Brass and Voices for cancer research UK. Newly formed in 2022, the group is currently comprised of a mixed choir, a Men's choir, and a woMen's choir. The mixed choir meets at the Manchester Rugby Club, and the Men's and woMen's choirs meet at the Wilmslow Rugby Club. The repertoire consists of a little bit of everything - madrigals, movies, musicals, spirituals, shanties, serious songs, silly songs - everything.
