Han...  moreOur next concert will be : Handel : Israel in Egypt On 16 November 2025 at 7.30 All Saints Church Kingston will become the stage for intensely powerful musical drama as Kingston Choral Society opens their 75th season with a truly remarkable work. Handel’s Israel in Egypt is one of Handel’s most lavish and dramatic oratorios. Unusually, the soloists’ contributions are secondary as the Choir is given the starring role in the turbulent narrative, relating the story of the Biblical plagues, the Israelites’ flight from Egypt via the parting of the Red Sea, and their triumph over the Pharaoh’s army. The plot unfolds in a series of thrilling and startlingly inventive choruses. It is fitting that KCS should introduce their 75th Anniversary season with a Handel oratorio. The text for the piece was written by Bartholomew Begley, a Dublin-based philosophy lecturer who works on philosophical translations of early modern Latin texts. The text 'Deus Ex Machina' tells the story of a suddenly and unexpectedly found God 'out of a machine.' The setting of the Choir was very experimental – the aim was to take full advantage of the possibilities offered by the spatial, immersive sound. The Choir sections were spread horizontally and vertically; therefore, the entire space around the listener was arranged. The visuals indicate the positions of the Choir by points of light, whose brightness and movement were devised based on the sound energy of each of the choral sections.  less

Winners of 10 Gold Medals (incl 3 World Champion Titles) at the World Choir Games 2000-2012. Boys join the Choir as an extra-curricular activity, amid academic, sporting and other cultural activities. Approx. 40 performances per year, including national/international tours.  less
