By participating in our choir program, youths not only develop new talents and improve Their cognitive abilities, but They also serve as mentors and positive role models for younger generations.
Our unique approach promotes intergenerational collaboration and fosters a sense of community, ultimately leading to reduced youth unemployment rates and a decrease in crime rates. TogeTher, we can create a harmonious society where music education and social integration go hand in hand.

Founded in New York City in 2008 by Artistic Director Vince Peterson, The organization now encompasses: a roster of professional Ensemble singers, a volunteer chorus of 40-50 adults and an annual week-long Summer Institute in Brooklyn for composers and conductors.
The culture of The organization marries informality, loving support and joyful curiosity, with The expectation of solid and technical musicianship, constant learning and openness toward The unexpected.

The group primarily consists of Vocal music majors, however, There are singers representing several oTher academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under The direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is The Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. Concerts by The group feature a cappella music of Scandinavia and The Baltics, as well as North-American composers. Music by composers such as Mäntyjärvi, Daniel-Lesur, Rautavaara, Martin and Pärt are ideal showcases for The choir’s lush and full sound.
Members of The group are dedicated to excellence in rehearsing and performing. With a repertoire consisting of 8 to 16-part music, The twenty singers are mostly performing as soloists.
Now in its fifth season, voces boreales has already performed in a number of prestigious concert series, such as The National Arts Centre eXpres- sion series, Musique Chez Nous at Bishop's University, Mondial Choral Laval and The Montreal International Bach-Academy.
