The main interest of the Choir is to serve through music repertoires performances especially in Manado Diocese which consists of catholic Churches of the province. The Choir performs ordinarily music during Catholic Mass and other forms of Choir services in Churches and events. The formation of this Catholic youth has agreed to give contribution to the Church and the country as young generation through music. In 2014, Manado Catholic Choir had established its junior member, named Manado Catholic Youth Choir (MCYC). Consist of school age youngster and as part of Manado Catholic Choir has the same vision and mission. Himig Batingaw was founded in March of 1979 by group of graduating students of Imus Institute to sing for that year's baccalaureate mass. In the first few years of the Choir's existence, they conducted rehearsals at the Church belfry; hence the name Himig (melody) and Batingaw (peal of bells) was born. The Choir is very influential in the rise and development of choral music in the parish and having introduced new pieces for liturgical use most of which are composed or arranged for the group and having graduated noted local musicians from its ranks. The Choir began to tread new ground under the directorship of Mr. Edward Gerodias in the late 1980's then on to Mr. Rey Roland Bergado in the late 1990's, both sought after pianists. The Choir gives and annual Easter and Christmas performance, an annual Summer Concert and European Tour. Their repertoire ranges from Handel’s Zadok the Priest to Karl Jenkin’s The Armed Man. The Choir has performed in many major venues around in Europe, including St Nicolas Church Prague to St Mark’s Venice, and has sung in many commercial concerts including premiere of James Brett’s Book of Dreams and performed for the Queen’s arrival at Bushy Park during her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee, where the Choir also deputised for the Opera Babes.
