Flos Campi (meaning "flower of the field" in Latin—from the Song of Songs) is an early music ensemble comprised of students from the University of Southern California. We specialize in repertoire from 1750 and before.

Our repertoire is all original, written by choir members and has emerged as a new tribal choral tradition that honors death as a natural, expected, sometimes very inspiring event in a life. While we don't require auditions, our welcome process is rigorous. This kind of singing is spiritual work and is deeply rewarding for those who are called to it.

Using the simple view that a good song is a good song, has meant that they bring together a collection of pieces that appeal to a wide audience. the choir delights in introducing new Songs that are connected by their unique choral sound, rather than from a particular genre and it is this wide appeal and their sense of fun that has meant the group is in constant demand and continually attracts new members. Even in its early days the choir never quite conformed to the accepted norms of what should be included in their repertoire. What should I do? I don't have any money. I would marry you if I did." This outdoor performance was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. there are no auditions and all Songs are taught and learnt by ear. We rehearse every Tuesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm, in central London between Kings Cross and St Paul's.
