The choir has a high calibre of singers drawn by its demanding musical standard and The opportunity to explore recently created music. Among The group's twenty-four Members are piano and voice teachers, soloists, choir directors, organists and oThers with musical training. The ensemble has previously reached The quarter- and semi-finals of The CBC Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs. In May 2010, They were awarded second place in The chamber choir category of The National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs. The 80+ voice New York City Bar Chorus ("CBC") will conduct a limited number of auditions (brief, private and low-pressure), with primary focus on baritones, basses and high sopranos, for our fall 2017 cycle. We rehearse about three Tuesday evenings per month, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, in midtown Manhattan to produce what listeners describe as a professional-quality sound, spanning musical Theater, Jazz, pop/rock, gospel and classical styles. He had retired 12 years previously. What was once a packed out mass full of joy and prayer, families and young couples, singles and religious, was now a quieter mass with no choir and I saddened by this. I offered my services as a singer and musician to coMe and provide music for The 5:30 mass and within a few short weeks I returned to The place I consider my spiritual hoMe. I had not purposely set out to start a choir but people began to approach Me with a desire to sing and it was a need within The community I was not going to Ignore.
