We believe that anyone can sing and are an open-access choir - no auditions, all needs catered for. We have just done two small performances after only rehearsing for 6 weeks!

The choir welcomes new members at the...  moreThe Gettin’ Higher choir seeks to embrace and celebrate humanity’s highest aspirations through music, welcoming people of all ages and cultures. We are not associated with any particular religion or spiritual path. The choir welcomes new members at the beginning of each season in September and February. There is no audition, and no vocal experience is required, just a desire to sing in harmony with others. Our aim is to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire consists of both traditional and new songs from many cultures. The majority are sung a cappella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony. The choir is divided into three chapters, each practicing the same material on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A community-friendly choir where no previous music experience is needed to be a part of. All you need to do is come with a smile and a passion for singing. No auditions are required and your first two weeks are on us.  

Homechoir is a digital choir - a community of singers numbering in the thousands who join Ben England BEM (the internet’s choirmaster) on YouTube at 2pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and 11am Sundays (UK time) for singing, fun and camarade...  moreHomechoir is a digital choir - a community of singers numbering in the thousands who join Ben England BEM (the internet’s choirmaster) on YouTube at 2pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and 11am Sundays (UK time) for singing, fun and camaraderie. Homechoir is a new way of looking at learning music. You don’t need to be able to sing well or at all to take part – the teaching is one-way. You watch and sing along with Ben if you can, and are invited to take part in the live text chat with everyone else around the world. There is a vibrant and friendly social community among the choir. If you can’t join in live, then you can enjoy the music-making at any time as all our sessions are recorded and available for you to watch when you can, as often as you like.
