The BSRU Concert Choir is the largest vocal ensemble in the BSRU Voice and Choral Studies Program at the College of Music, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhar University, Bangkok, Thailand. The choir is directed by Dr Casey Broadway.

Thompson. The 40-80 member A Cappella Choir offers freshman and sophomore singers the opportunity to perform works for larger choirs and to fine-tune the art of choral singing through exposure to music from the Renaissance through the 21st century. In daily rehearsals, choir members hone musicianship skills such as rhythm, sight-reading and the understanding of complex scores. They develop an understanding of the intricacies of vocal production, including pitch and how to blend individual voices together into a unified, beautiful sound. Finally, members learn how to sing in an ensemble and to successfully meld as a team. The choir frequently performs with other School of Music ensembles, including the Utah Philharmonia orchestra, the Wind Ensemble, the Chamber Choir and Women’s Chorus. Since 2008 we have been coming together in Central London to learn and perform sea-shanties, murder ballads, protest songs, work songs, love melodies, folkified non-folksongs, and good old knees-up tunes, from across the centuries and all over the world.

They wanted to show how two seemingly different cultures can fuse together to produce something great. This vision has grown into Chai-Town A Cappella. Last year we performed at the a cappella competition Anahat, in Berkeley, CA, as a guest act at the dance competition Naach Nation, in New York, NY, and across the Midwest. As 2012 approaches, our group will be reaching its 10th anniversary and putting out our THIRD studio album! Chai-Town is a completely student-run, non-profit group of 16 members, each of whom has a passion for music. We love sharing this passion with our friends and family, our community, and the world.  less
