Described as ‘a fine body of singers’ by John Packwood in the Bristol Evening Post, they have delighted audiences with their fresh, inspiring interpretations of choral repertory from many centuries.
Members of the Choir come from many parts of the UK for intensive weekends of Music-making, culminating in concerts acclaimed for their invigorating choral sound, clarity of tone and texture, and innovative programming.
In June 2010 Harmonia Sacra were invited to perform a programme of Music by early seventeenth-century English Recusant Musicians (including William Byrd, Richard Dering and Peter Philips) for a Swansea University History conference at Oystermouth. The concert featured a unique and rare exhibition of seventeenth-century books and Music... less

Members saw the need for a name which reflected their distinctive sound and Musical objectives. They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting the eclectic and often unusual repertoire of the Choir. In using the archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – the Choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich choral tradition whilst establishing itself in the 21st century choral landscape.
The Choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact the world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in the local WA and wider Australian Musical community. As a strong supporter of emerging young composers and Australian composers, Voyces showcases their works on a regular basis. less

Born in Munich in 1897, Ben-Haim had a very impressive career as a pianist, conductor and composer. He moved to Tel-Aviv in 1933, and soon became a leading figure in the Musical life of Palestine and the State of Israel (from 1948).
The roses bloom in the month of May,
But my soul's full of gloom suffering in love.
The nightingales sing and are sighing in love,
The passion will kill me, multiply my pain.
Come faster, oh dove, come faster to me,
Come faster, my soul, because I shall die.

There Will Come Soft Rains
There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
and swallows circling with their shimmering sound;
and frogs in the pools singing at night,
and wild plum trees in tremulous white;
Robins will wear their feathery fire,
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;
and not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.
Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly;
and Spring herself, when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

in the morning, when I rise
it's your servant, bound for glory
O, dear Lord, please hear my prayer
O Lord, please hear my prayer
keep me safe within your arms
it's your servant, bound for glory
O, dear Lord, please hear my prayer
When my work on earth is done
and you come to take me home
just to know I'm bound for glory
and to hear you say...

done with sin and sorrow
have mercy

The consort specialises in bringing vibrancy to early Music, as well as breathing life into newly commissioned pieces. Originating at the University of Cambridge, the consort attracted singers from the renowned Choirs of St John's, Jesus, Trinity and King's Colleges. Now a professional vocal ensemble, Platinum Consort boasts some of the best young singers in London. They have an affinity with the Music of composer Richard Bates and recently premiered his Tenebrae Responsories. These, along with other Music inspired by the Tenebrae tradition appear on Platinum's debut album, In The Dark which is released on Resonus Classics.
Platinum also runs a Boys' Choir, which aims to be one of the best of its kind in the UK. In addition to this our Choral Workshops provide a wealth of opportunities for singers who wish to explore glorious repertoire in smaller groups.
