For many people, ‘Male Voice Choir’ evokes images of men in blazers standing on a windy hillside singing Men of Harlech. But not all men’s Choirs are like that and Bournemouth Male Voice Choir certainly isn’t. Not only is our Music diverse – spanning everything from Palestrina and Poulenc to Take That and Queen – but the range of venues we sing in and the diversity of our members’ interests means that BMVC has something for everyone.
Have you ever sat at home watching one of those Choir programmes on TV and wished you could be a part of something like that? If you have, then the Bournemouth Male Voice Choir could be for you.
Please don't be put off if:
. You’ve never sung in a Choir before
. You’re not sure if you’re good enough
. You think the Music is old-fashioned and boring
Many people join having had no experience of singing in public. You don’t need to be able to sight-read Music, either. As long as you can sing in tune and are willing to learn, then you’re al... less

We accomplish our mission by combining the power of women's experience with Musical expression in the following ways: 1) each season we commission one new piece for women's voices from a female composer; 2) each season, we research, uncover and perform a work for women's voices by a female composer who has been overlooked in Music history; 3) we provide an annual scholarship to one girl to sing with the Phoenix Girl's Chorus and 4) each season, we perform two annual concerts and a variety of local performances in our communities and schools.

Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of Music for the enjoyment of the members as well as to give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of others”. During our Musical season (September – June), the Choir practices on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond. In addition to our weekly practices we usually plan one or two workshops with a choral clinician, as well as evenings with guest directors.
We have two major performances per year, a Family Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We are very involved with our community and, by giving benefit concerts, help to raise funds for other organizations such as the Richmond Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Foundation and Tim Horton’s Kids Camps. As a group member of the Richmond Community Arts Council, the Richmond Singers has established a legacy that attests to a vested interest in the arts in Richmond... less
