MUSYCA's performance at the 2014 Neckelodeon Kids Choice Awards has been seen in more than 375 million households worldwide, in more than 25 languages. Season's highlights include community concerts, domestic and international performance tours, collaborations with artists and arts organizations, and recording. MUSYCA singers collaborated with composers Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, recording artists DJ Mustard, Alexander Palmer, Sia Furler and Luke Christopher. All choir members receive a first-rate musical education. there has been a long tradition of musical excellence at St Laurence’s. the original church, built in the 1880s, had a strong choir of men and boys who took part in the Festival of Britain services in 1951. When the new church was opened in 1968, the musical tradition continued. A new Walker organ was installed in the church, using some pipework from the old organ and Directors of Music have included David Sanger, Professor Roger Wibberley, Paul Dewhurst, Tom Fowkes, Marcus Wibberley, Iain Simcock and Andrew Ibbotson. the current Director of Music is Huw Morgan. Girls were first admitted to the choir some ten years ago, but the choir remains unique in this part of south-east London in that it continues to use only trebles (girls and boys) on the top line. the lower parts are provided by volunteer adults from the local community. WYV is run by a team of experienced volunteers who give their time freely to be able to pass this experience on - the team consists of two primary school teachers, two doctors and a critical care nurse! Warwickshire Young Voices provide high quality musical activities for children from age 2 to age 16 through a range of classes, choirs and workshops.
