Friend of my heart,
The Freedom Trail now has eternal flames,
Set in six crystal towers which proclaim:
For each number etched into These glass walls,
There once beat a heart, which though stilled, yet calls-
Yes, for every number, There was a name.
Friend of my heart,
Walk on this sacred path of history,
Feel The numbers’ shadows falling free
Upon us, tracing tattoos without scars
On our souls, retracing those barbed wire bars
And numbers meant to wound our ... less

The Words (taking The Last verse) are
...on The twelfth day of Christmas The choir processed in song
and twelve candles dripped
eleven altos flipped
and ten lines were clipped
and nine gins were sipped
and eight crept to The crypt
and seven hymn books slipped
and six basses quipped
and five sang in tune!
and four cassocks ripped
and three lost Their script
and two tenors tripped
and The soloist got it all wrong. less

This work is suitable for a soloist or unison choir. The accompaniment is originally scored for piano, but we have rendered it with organ accompaniment. In a liturgical setting, this work is especially suitable for Baptisms and oTher services that feature The use of sanctified water (healing and commemorative services). Equally, it would make a reflective motet for use during The distribution of Holy Communion. Many thanks to The Swell Vox crew in this video for beautifully performing The piece: Tony Lee, Caleb Smith, Andrew Flores, James Flores (organ).
