I would like to acknowledge the a capella choir that I sing in, The Stairwell Carollers, and our director Pierre Massie, for their musical inspiration these past 25 years.
I would also like to thank my friends in our "Ad hoc Chorale" for testing out this piece in one of our informal workshops and offering valuable comments.
And with deepest appreciation to my brother Adam Rain and my friend Geneviève Lajoie for their invaluable support throughout my composing journey. less

Lesklavaj (Slavery) is part of a 3-movement work titled “Ayiti” (Haiti). (listen to the other two movements at the links below). The first movement depicts the remarkable Story of the captured Africans who were reduced to slaves by European settlers in the American continent, particularly in the Caribbean. The second movement recounts the indepence of Haiti; and the third movement is about the Perseverance of the country which to this day, Haiti is fighting with fury to keep its freedom.
“No human being must live on their knees; slavery in all its forms is an affront to the Divine Creator. The sense of wonder teaches us to discover all the beauty and the magnificence of the creation, and the extraordinary richness of our humanity. Diversity and unity, respect and solidarity, compassion and generosity are what makes a free man.”

Harmonious Chorale Ghana - Joseph And His Brethren An Oratorio By George Frideric Handel.
Performed By The Harmonious Chorale-Ghana and Conducted By James Varrick Armaah - 2nd July, 2017
Now, before Act II begins, more biblical Story needs to be inserted: After Joseph saves wisely during the seven years of plenty, the
famine begins. Because Egypt is now well positioned for food, people from afar come to purchase grain to replace their own failing crops. Among these are Joseph's brothers, who do not recognize him (although he recognizes them). He accuses them of being spies and orders them to leave one of them, Simeon, here in jail while they go home and return with their youngest brother Benjamin (who did not come the first time). less

Sicer si niti rojeni Dalmatinci niso enotni o točnem prevodu besedila./
The Story in different dalmatinian dialects is about houndred years of slavery and hard life in Dalmatia (Croatia). The dalmatian people built all the dalmatian cities mostly builded with stone and they have to protect their land if they want to live there where the wind can be strong and life har... less
