The choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early music Ensemble, transformed into one of the premier non-collegiate chamber groups in the Western United States. This award-winning Ensemble achieves high performance standards by drawing on the rich musical heritage of the region. Many Cantorum singers have solo careers and all have sung with top collegiate Ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber Artists, and Salt Lake Vocal Artists. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of talented choral educators. The group won both of its categories at the 2016 Interkultur competition and received special commendation for their performance of Dale Warland and Hugo Distler. Singers in this Ensemble demonstrate a high level of commitment to choral singing and to sharing this art with audiences at home and around the world. The Chamber Choir forms the core of Cantilon’s touring and recording program and participates in many exciting and unique activities throughout the year. The Chamber Choir performs locally in concert at least four times per season, and competes in music festivals at local, provincial and national levels. The Chamber Choir generally follows a three-year touring cycle: a regional tour in year one, national tour in year two, and an international tour every third year. In addition to its regular concert series, the Chamber Choir is often invited to perform with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Pro Coro Canada, Edmonton Opera and the Richard Eaton Singers.  less

Original members: Margareta Bengtson, Katarina Henryson, Anders Edenroth, Peder Karlsson and Anders Jalkéus. Later members: Emma Nilsdotter, Morten Vinther, Janis Strazdins, Lisa Östergren and Anton Forsberg.
