English Poetic Translation:
I see the love flow in the eyes of the mother;
Tenderness and joy have overcome the father.
Through the eyes of their very first born,
I discover hope, I contemplate the future.
He is beautiful, full of life and full of promise;
He is beautiful, full of life, and a carrier of hope.
Akeem, Akeem… the voice of the future.
Akeem, Akeem… Akeem is his name.
Life on the wings of love
Once again burst out the sweet symphony.
This splendor exploded time
For us to discover the buds of spring.
He is beautiful, full of life and full of promise;
He is beautiful, full of life, and a carrier of hope.
Akeem, Akeem… the voice of the future.
Akeem, Akeem… Akeem is his name.

Colloque Sentimental - (translation by S N Solomons after Paul Verlaine)
In the age-old park, treading the icy grass
Two lone forms ere a while went past.
Their eyes are dead, their lips are soft and moist,
Almost inaudible their voice.
In the cold lonely park, pacing the grass,
Twin lonely spectres have evoked the past.
"Dost thou recall our ecstasy of old?"
"Why would you think I should recall?"
"And at my name does thy heart pulse and grow?
And in thy dreams seest thou my soul?" "No!"
"Those lovely days of unheard bliss and free ...
We fused our lips as one!" "Ah, that might be."
"How blue the heavens and our hope how High!"
"Hope has fled vanquished to the sombre sky."
And so they wandered in the unkempt grass,
And night alone heard all the words that passed. less

Singing is about listening, not looking

Wow. Hold on, give me a second... I need to relax after this one.
This was crazy difficult. Not only was it just difficult note-wise, but the rhythms were ridiculous too. It was loads of fun though!
I started working on this in June. I did take July and August off while I was away for the summer, but all in all this is the product of a little less than 4 months of work.
There are 8 voices that you don't see, but that's just because I couldn't fit them on screen. 4 baritone voices and 4 tenor voices do not have videos to go along with them, but there aren't any splits in those parts so I don't... less

It has become one of the most significant Czech music ensembles during its history and it is desired not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The ensemble is currently formed by these Singers: Jakub Kubín (countertenor), Martin Ptáček (tenor), Lukáš Merkl (tenor), Radek Mach (tenor), Aleš Malý (baritone), Martin Struna (baritone), Richard Uhlíř (bass), and Václav Kovář (bass).
The repertoire of the ensemble includes the periods from the Gregorian chant up till arrangements of modern popular melodies while the most important part is formed by the vocal compositions of the 19th and 20th century, Czech, Moravian and Slovak folk songs and contemporary compositions which were often arranged or even composed directly for the Gentlemen Singers by composers with whom the ensemble cooperates closely (e.g. Jan Vičar, Jaroslav Krček, Jan Jirásek, Stephen Hatfield, or Mark van Platen).
