A Cappella is a touring Choir, having visited Prague and France, and hoping to make a tour to Spain in the near future. The Choir rehearses every other Saturday morning, between 10 a.m. and noon.

During this time they have developed a reputation for their commitment to the highest level of musicality. Comprising some of the finest young singers in the country, members of the Choir are all alumni of the Eton Choral Courses.
Conducted by their founder Ralph Allwood, the sound of the Choir is a reflection of their profound sensitivity to text, blend and phrasing. They use imaginative programming, and have become known for their innovative and exciting performances and their extensive array of recordings. The most recent addition to this catalogue will be released in November 2013, and features works by Paul Mealor and Benjamin Britten.

This is the Choir’s 99th album to be released. Founded in the 1670s, the Choir is known for its distinctive rich, warm sound, its expressive interpretations and its breadth of repertoire. Alongside these musical characteristics, the Choir is particularly proud of its happy, relaxed and mutually supportive atmosphere. The Choir is directed by Andrew Nethsingha following a long line of eminent Directors of Music, recently Dr George Guest, Dr Christopher Robinson and Dr David Hill.
The Choir is made up of around 20 Choristers and Probationers from St John’s College School and 15 Choral Scholars who are members of St John’s College, its primary purpose being to enhance the liturgy and worship at daily services in the College Chapel. Winner of the first prize in Warsaw International Choir Festival 2007. Our repertoire contains International music, but especially Arabic songs from different heritages (Lebanese, Palestinian, Egyptian, Iraqi, Syrian, Mouashah...). And for the first time, we have Arabic songs arranged with quarter tones. Our aim is to show the real civilized image of the Arab world and to spread our rich Music.
