Striving to achieve artistic, Vocal and musical exc...  moreThe Ma'ayan Choir under the musical direction and conductorship of Ms. Anat Morahg is the official choir of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality department of Culture and Arts, comprising of some 45 singers. Striving to achieve artistic, Vocal and musical excellence the choir singers are graduates of the Rubin Academy of Music Tel Aviv, the School of Choir Singing, music students and graduates of selected youth choirs, performing a varied repertoire including both classical and contemporary music. Ma'ayan has performed in official ceremonies held by the municipality; in various festivals such as Tel Aviv –Yafo Festival, Abu Gosh Vocal Music Festival, The Renaissance Festival, "Tones in the desert" festival, the Jerusalem Arts Festival; in concerts with the Symphonic Orchestras of Jerusalem, Haifa and Rishon Letzion, the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra, Raanana Symphonette, Baroquada, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra and the Israeli Opera. We're a group of young professionals who specialise in early music, but Polyphony especially. The singers are made up of Cathedral choral scholars and Oxbridge choral scholars. They're directed by Matthew Collins.

Members of the choir come from many parts of the UK for intensive weekends of music-making, culminating in concerts acclaimed for their invigorating choral sound, clarity of tone and texture, and innovative programming. In June 2010 Harmonia Sacra were invited to perform a programme of music by early seventeenth-century English Recusant musicians (including William Byrd, Richard dering and Peter Philips) for a Swansea University History conference at Oystermouth. We welcom...  moreThe J Singers combine singing ‘seriously for pleasure’ with performing charity fund-raising concerts throughout the county of Somerset. We sing a varied mix of music from traditional ballads and songs from the West End shows, to popular numbers. We welcome new adult members with or without prior choral experience. You do need some musical ability, but it's not essential to read music. Rehearsals are in Wembdon, near Bridgwater, on a Tuesday evening.

The group's first piece—William Byrd’s “This sweet and merry month of May”, whose ending celebrated Queen Elizabeth I with the words And greet Eliza with a rhyme: O beauteous Queen of Second Troy, Take well in worth a simple toy. provided a great name for the group. Eliza’s Toyes was born, and existed every summer in Madison, Wisconsin. In 2008, a fair number of singers who were in Eliza's Toyes are living in Madison once again. Thus we gather, outside of the Festival, for the joy of music making. It is our pleasure to continue sharing this wonderful body of music with you for the second year!  less
