In the beginning, Greenwood Singers specialized in the performance of a cappella music from different stylistic periods. Its programming has now expanded to include works with soloists, instrumental ensembLes and chamber orchestra. A versatiLe ensembLe, the choir has performed frequently with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in a wide variety of programs which have included MahLer’s Symphony No. 8, Holst’s The Planets, family Christmas concerts, the concert version of Jerome Kern’s Showboat, Orff’s Carmina Burana (with the Alberta BalLet) and the ESO’s 1992 reunion with the British rock group, Procol Harum. It started out with one small group of friends made up of mostly teenagers. It started out with one small group of friends made up of mostly teenagers. The group was created 17th of August 1987 when a group of seminarians from St. Vincent had their apostolate together with the image of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal (name of Medallion was taken) at Metro Heights, Visayas Ave. Culiat, Quezon City and a choir was needed for the mass. The group started singing acapella during eucharistic ceLebrations and also singing at San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish every saturday evening mass. From 1988 to 1989, another group of seminarians, which is the Franciscans, lived in the community for more than a year and help the group in singing. In 1989, the Augustinians had their apostolate and both congregations accompanied the group in singing during masses. Sometimes they hold their practices at the seminary. It's members represent the multi-ethnicity of Hawaii's population and include singers of Asian, Pacific, European and American backgrounds. Singers from all walks of life, ranging in age from teens to octogenarians make up the membership of the group. The ChoraLe presents two major concerts each year, in addition to sponsoring a Community Chorus Festival and performing at care facilities and retirement homes. In past years they toured Hawaii's neighboring Islands, Europe, Japan and China and are planning a trip to Ireland in the future. Full CircLe sing songs of all styLes in three or four part harmony. You do not need to read music and there are no auditions. We sing for fun and socialise outside of choir. We love to perform, especially for charity.
