Hailing from places as far afield as Truro and Coverack and ranging in age from thirty-something to eighty-something they unite once a week in Penryn to indulge and nurture their love of singing. The women of Mabe Ladies choir take their music making very seriously, constantly striving to achieve the highest artistic and technical standards. That said, they do spend an inordinate amount of time laughing! Whether it’s in the rehearsal room or the concert hall the emphasis is on fun & enjoyment, for choir and audience alike. Rule Number One of being a Mabe Lady is to have fun. There is no rule Number Two  less

Over the years, the choir has been led by many talented co...  moreRSU choir Rīga was established in 1951 and for almost 20 years (1967-1986) its conductor was the accomplished professor Jānis Dūmiņš. In 1968, the choir was awarded the status of a National choir. Over the years, the choir has been led by many talented conductors, e.g. Centis Kriķis, Kārlis Beinerts, Edvīns and Inga Dziļums, Ints Teterovskis, etc. Today the conductors of the choir are Evita Taranda and Zane Zilberte; choir master is Roberts Hansons. The repertoire of the choir varies, as performances include all sorts of music from the time of renaissance to modern music or music written by contemporary artists, e.g. Paul McCartney's oratorio "Ecce Cor Meum" or Czech composer Petr Eben's music "De Circuito Aeterno". The choir has performed in many countries and it has received many awards and international recognition in international competitions.
