The event had a picnic character and took place on June 16 in the evening in the courtyard with fountains in front of the Main Building of the Gdańsk University of Technology. The program includes works by Georg Friedrich Handel performed by the Baroque orchestra and academic choirs from Gdańsk and Kraków, as well as a fireworks show. The concert repertoire includes pieces by George Frideric Handel, such as the coronation anthem "Zadok the Priest" and "My Heart is Inditing", "Water Music" and "Music for the Royal Fireworks" were performed. The music scene was set on the stairs in front of the Main Building. The musical side of the evening was made more attractive by the fireworks show, which accompanied the performance of the last part of "Music for the Royal Fireworks".  less

By engaging in an intense study, could soon join the most important events of prestigious choralcompetitions earning stateMents in Arezzo and Ravenna in 1978 and 1979 and Gorizia in 1982. The polyphonic sacred and secular music certainly represents the most relevant part of the repertoire that the Polyphonic Group “Claudio Monteverdi” successfully brings to churches and theaters both in Italy and abroad. Among the repertoire, we can find 1500’s and Baroque musical compositions by Palestrina, Da Victoria, Gallus, Viadana, Hassler, Monteverdi. Among the Romantic authors, on the other hand, we can find Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, and Rossini. Concerning modern Polyphonic music: Poulenc, Kodaly, Bardos, Pizzetti, and Orff. We were originally founded as a workplace choir for K Shoes (taken over by Clarks) of Kendal, Cumbria in 1969. We have around fifty members and support local and national charities. We are a very friendly choir and welcome new members.

During the fifty plus years of its lifetime it has benefited from the leadership of five further conductors, David Griffiths, Margaret Maddock, Len Williams, Carol Davies and our present Director of Music, Alwyn Evans. The choir has travelled widely over the years with tours in Europe, United States and Canada besides engageMents throughout Wales and England. Our concert venues have varied from village halls to national auditoria and great cathedrals. In the Eisteddfod field we have won two National first prizes plus several seconds and others.
