Since the beginning, Rev. Lee Chong Min – a reverend as well as a professor of the School of church Music, Singapore Bible College – has been appointed to be the choir master of the Chamber Choir. In 1997, the choir name was changed to Jakarta Festival Chorus in order to reach out more participants from evangelical churches in Jakarta.
Jakarta Festival Chorus is currently under the Music Department of the Communion of Chinese churches in Indonesia (PGTI). The members now are choristers and sacred music lovers from different churches in Jakarta. In Oct of 2008 I returned to the Jes church, the place I had grown up with my father running the folk mass choir. He had retired 12 years previously. What was once a packed out mass full of joy and prayer, families and young couples, singles and religious, was now a quieter mass with no choir and I saddened by this.
I offered my services as a singer and musician to come and provide music for the 5:30 mass and within a few short weeks I returned to the place I consider my spiritual home.
I had not purposely set out to start a choir but people began to approach me with a desire to sing and it was a need within the community I was not going to Ignore.
On the 12th Dec 2008 The Jes Gospel Choir was birthed with 5 singers and me & it was a wonderful experience and we received a very warm welcome. Within a year the choir grew to over 15 members and some musicians.

The Northamptonshire village of Braunston recently scored something of a coup when the internationally renowned Swingle Singers gave a stunning performance at All Saints church on Saturday November 21st, supported by up and coming singer-songwriter Emily Davies, who performed at The Big Chill and Festinho this summer.
The Swingles show, supporting the release of their new album 'Ferris Wheels' features songs by the likes of Nick Drake, Bjork, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Green Day, and the set also includes their customary covers of Bach and The Beatles with human beatboxing at the heart throughout. Vocal gymnastics at their best, and the choreography is something else too!
