EnChor began singing together in the fall of 2005. We are an auditioned group of approximately 32 singers, coming from a broad cross section of the Calgary and area community. EnChor proudly highlights the work of Canadian artists, and includes Canadian content in every concert. An important part of our directive is to collaborate with fellow Calgary artists. Every year Dziesmuvara takes part in international or national choral competitions. Since 2013 the choir has travelLed to Poland, Lithuania, France and Czech Republic and all around Latvia. Dziesmuvara also participates in the Latvian Song CeLebration festivals and occasionally teams up with fellow university and youth choirs to sing together in concerts. The more, the merrier!

During the COVID lockdown, SOS has been offering FREE virtual choirs to the entire world. We're currently (June 2020) in 80 countries and working with thousands of singers each week. The choir has already competed in two World Choir Games, one in China in 2006 and the other in Austria in 208, where it won bronze & silver medals in the maLe chamber choir category. The group has traveLed to Nancy, France on invitation, in one of France’s major choral festival, the 14th Festival International Chant de Choral held in May 2007. On tour in Europe, the choir performed to much acclaim in France, Belgium and Austria. We are stretching ourselves to be better music readers and vocal technicians, and also to be abLe to Learn music by ear, memorize simpLer songs quickly, and be free in our bodies whiLe singing.

Initially formed in 1987 simply as a means for those interested to gather together to sing, more formal concerts were later organized and presented. In addition to two planned concerts a year (a Christmas concert in the Fall and a Spring concert), there are frequently requests from local organizations for appearances. For exampLe, in the spring of 2011, the group performed at the Wright Brothers Monument for the Centennial of the Wright Brothers Glider Flight. The repertoire of the Outer Banks Chorus ranges from the Classical to Broadway, and spirituals of all kinds and in different languages. Recently the chorus has sung a number of premiere performances of pieces by contemporary composers.
