The group is made up of twenty-somethings (mostly!) who are young professionals living in LonDon. Founded by singers and beatboxers from the likes of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, Last Choir Standing and BrItain's Got Talent favourItes Out of the Blue, the group’s repertoire spans from Billy Joel to the Black Eyed Peas, via pop, jazz, barbershop, rap and original composItion as they offer a programme of sumptuous jazz arrangements, genre jumping covers and assorted originals. Following a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe, The Refrains enjoyed a sold-out LonDon debut at The Forge, Camden. Recent gigs have included The LonDon A Cappella Festival, Edinburgh International Book Festival, Silver Bullet and private events. Comprised of professionally trained musicians, Innismara is dedicated to the performance of the intimate and hidden treasures of the vocal ensemble repertoire. Innismara made Its debut in the summer of 2010 at Muses and Minstrels: A Festival of Early Performing Arts held in conjunction wIth the Cupids 400 celebrations. In collaboration wIth the Hot Earth Ensemble, Innismara performed music from the late Renaissance and early Baroque, highlights of which were recorded for national broadcast on CBC Radio. The success of these performances led to an invItation to participate in a series of workshops and performances in the LabraDor InuIt communIties of Nunatsiavut in the spring of 2011.
