Its components are professionals, whether singers or related to other areas of music or those who, despite having another occupation, have a solid musical background and an extense vocal and Choral experience.
The unique sonority of a female group of singers, usually a capella, has been widely explored throughout the history of music by many composers from all times, both male and female. Examples of such music can be found from the Middle Ages up to contemporary music; however it is not until Romanticism that works are composed specifically for female choirs. Thus, a particular genre is born that will keep its own entity up to the present times. This genre has been especially cultivated as of late by female artists and composers. Both aspects, that is presenting works written for female choir as well ... less

We are committed to building community through excellence in a cappella harmony, and we love to learn. We rehearse weekly to improve our vocal skills and build lasting friendships in the process. Although we have diverse backgrounds, our members thrive by working together to achieve shared goals.
We sing a range of repertoire from jazz standards to 21st-century pop, barbershop to show tunes, but most importantly we sing a cappella. As well as entertaining audiences across the eastern suburbs of Melbourne we compete regularly in barbershop harmony competitions at a national level.
Vocal Vibes is available to sing at private and community events - find out more by visiting our below pages, or get in touch with us at info@vocalvibes.org.au

Our leading text for working with the children
is what Pablo Casals once said:
"Each second we live is a new and special moment,
a never returning moment.
We should tell every child:
"Do you know what you are?
You are a miracle!
You are wonderful!
In the whole wide world there is no-one like you!""

The Hazelnuts are a vocal trio, accompanied by guitar, contrabass & washboard, inspired by the American vocal groups of the 1930's. The group aims to expose the audience to the magic of this genre, which is almost completely forgotten.
The Hazelnuts' Concert combines original songs - preserving the musical spirit of the genre and poured into a contemporary feminine point of view, and in addition - stylistic adaptations of cotemporary songs and authentic pieces from the thirties.
Band Members:
Yifeat Ziv, Talya Amzaleg, & Shira Z. Carmel – Vocals, Songs and Arrangements
Ariel Givant – Double Bass / Dotan cohen – Guitar / Yoav Elkayam – Washboard

I have given this song the sub-title: "A Crazy Choral Etude for Rolled Rs and Perfect 5ths." It is meant, no pun intended, to be a musical lark, great fun for a choir to sing, rolling Rs like crazy, with no holding back.
NB: One day I woke up to the realization that I had independently written four Choral works, each of which had evoked a different season, and so it seemed natural to group them together into a Choral suite that I have called "The Ottawa Four Seasons Suite."
"Let's sing, it's Spring!", with its rousing coda section, works perfectly as the closing number of this suite.
Also of note, in early 2018, I applied to be a participant at one of the Vancouver Chamber Choir's Interplay workshops funded by the SOCAN Foundation and to my delight I was accepted.
"Let's sing, it's Spring!" was one of the pieces that this amazing choir sight read for me on the sp... less
