The aim of The Horizons Project is not simply to stimulate The creation of new South African Choral music; but to stimulate The creation of a new generation of South African Choral composers. There are 2 projects a year, each one focusing on a different genre of Choral compositions. The Choir consists of 24 hand-picked singers. By inviting specific ‘head-hunted’ singers to join The Choir and not just having open public auditions, allows us to hold an extremely high level of musicianship, technical ability and an exclusivity that makes our sound unique. On its first attempt at competitions in 2007, The group won Second Runner-Up in The prestigious PAGCOR Chorale Festival and was chosen as one of The top five winners in The Paskong Himig sa Lungsod ng PASIG Chorale Competition. In December 2007, The Ars Cantica Ensemble was featured at The Opening Ceremonies of The Amazing European Union Christmas held at The Podium, Ortigas and was one of The Choirs invited to grace The Sing For Me Project of The Department of Social Welfare and Development. In February 2010, Ars Cantica Ensemble emerged as one of The winners in Sa ‘Yo Lamang Chorale Fest, a Choral competition sponsored by ABS-CBN and Star Records.
