The choir was established in 2005 by Bartosz Michałowski, a long-time assistant to PrOf. Stefan Stuligrosz, founder Of The famous "POznan Nightingales" Boys´ and Men´s Choir Of The POznan Philharmonic. Conducting experience acquired during numerous concerts with The POznan Philharmonic and Sinfonia Varsovia orchestras played a crucial role in The establishment Of The young artist's own ensemble, which soon found recognition among organizers Of prominent competitions and festivals.

Director Of Choral Activities Stephen Gothold, himself an alumnus, organized The recruiting efforts and The Chorale made its debut performance on Saturday, December 4, 1982 at The Whittier Presbyterian Church - a complete performance Of Handel’s Messiah.
Since Then, The Chorale has sung over one hundred thirty concert programs in The SouThern California area. The Chorale performed in Japan in 1994 and at The Hollywood Bowl in 1995 as it joined togeTher with 1,000 singers from America and Japan to sing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In 2001, members Of The Chorale -- along with Whittier College students, alumni, and members Of The Imperial Valley Choral Society -- toured Eastern Europe and performed selections Of American hymns, spirituals, and sacred songs. Two regular events are The ever-popular Christmas Concert in The NCH and The Carmichael Centre’s annual fund-raising concert in St, Patrick’s CaThedral, formerly on Good Friday but latterly in May.

Richly Themed programs celebrate The elegant beauty Of Renaissance motets, tonal color Of modern works, and exotic flavor Of music from oTher cultures.
VAE relies exclusively on donations at concerts to defray costs. Singers volunteer Their time and talents but are not required to pay dues. less

In The beginning, Greenwood Singers specialized in The performance Of a cappella music from different stylistic periods. Its programming has now expanded to include works with soloists, instrumental ensembles and chamber orchestra. In addition to presenting its own concerts, The choir is a regular guest Of The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and collaborates frequently with oTher Edmonton ensembles, including The Alberta Baroque Ensemble in this performance.
