This SATB group presents members from across The length and breadth of The island ranging in age from 16 to 26 years. Dynamic, gifted and spirited are some of The words used to describe this group of vocalists and musicians. The JYC was founded by its principal director Gregory Simms, a member of The World Choir Council and National Coordinator for Music with The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. We sing music from The early 1900's through to more modern songs such as Billy Joel, The Rat Pack etc. The Chorus focuses on improving singing techniques and making chords "ring" while at The same time simply having fun. We love it when a 4 part chord is correctly tuned and The chord just locks togeTher and harmonics (or overtones) ring out loud and strong. We compete every year in local contest as a mean of measuring our progress against similar groups but we just love to perform for The public and so our contest activities are very well balanced with public performance. We also have a great time togeTher as one of our goals is to provide a place where men can gaTher and enjoy Their interest in singing.
