Dive into a song that's catchy and upbeat on the outside, but carries a touch of sadness in its WORDS. Despite the lively melody, the lyrics tell a story of longing and heartache, creating a mix of emotions that resonates with both joy and sorrow.
Ne vous fiez pas à l'apparente gaîté de sa mélodie : il s'agit bien là d'une supplique à l'être aimé, où l'espoir d'un éventuel retour dispute sa place à l'amertume de l'abandon.
Conducted by Jad Harjane
Composed by John Dowland

This perFORmance, however was part of the memorial service in St Martin in the Fields, FOR Ruth Rudge, who was a very distinguished and lovely lady, and also my first boss. The ladies of the Occasional Choir, whose beginnings were as the Madrigal Choir at West Heath, which I co-founded, all those years ago, are the singers, including one of the six that took part in the very first perFORmance. I am conducting, and Penny Walker, who now directs the choir is accompanying. UnFORtunately less than half the singers are visible in the video. less

The WORDS are my own and tell of children playing their games in the dusty streets (ie of Bethlehem) unaware that a miracle has happened and asking them to look up to the angels and join their singing.
The perFORmance here is by the Composer's Choir conducted by Daniel Shaw.
