The focus of our music is located in the Baltic region. Of course! Our cherished and beloved conductor Arūnas Pečiulis is from Lithuania. In 2016 we released our first own CD "Christmas in Orange" with traditional and extraordinary Christmas songs from all over the world. We are also represented with a total of three pieces on the CDs „Salzburg singt 2 - Advent" and „Salzburg singt 3 - Adventkalender" of the Salzburg Choir Association. In 2017 we made our first big trip abroad to Lithuania and Latvia, in 2018 we were one of only two „Non-Lithuanian“ choirs to take part in the Lithuanian song festival „Dainų šventė“ in Vilnius. Reflections have given concerts in support of local charities, sometimes sharing the privilege with other choirs and soloists. Many of our venues have been for religious organisations, either within their services and celebrations, or for their related charities. Our repertoire is very varied and includes sacred music and songs from shows and films, with composers from Bach to Goodall, Cole Porter to Elton John. We have had a busy Christmas period with performances at Ridgeway Methodist Church, Plympton, Lanhydrock church and at the Mount Edgcumbe Christmas fair. When school was over, it seemed natural to carry on singing together as a choir, and the group's achievements included reaching the semi-finals of Sainsbury's Choir of the Year and appearing on Opportunity KNocks. In the 1990's, the choir moved to Harrow and officially became kNown as Jubilate. Sarah Stroh took over as Musical Director in 1999 and since then the choir has grown significantly, doubling in size to its current membership of 43. There are still some original members of the choir, who have been singing together for More than 25 years. Our recent competition successes include winning the Barnardo's National Choir competition in March 2013 and the Ladies choir, folk and popular music classes and runner-up with distinction in the sacred music class in the 2012 Mid-Somerset Festival. The three- and four-voice motets recorded by the young Ladies of the Sjaella sextet and the five young gentlemen of the Ensemble Nobiles represent some of the highlights from Distler's choral oeuvre: the Jahrkreis op. 5, and the Geistliche Chormusik op. 12. One of the composer's best-kNown works, the Totentanz op. 12 No. 2, stands at the heart of this disc. The fourteen motets for Eternity Sunday contained in the Totentanz op. 12 No. 2 were set to music by Hugo Distler and form the work's musical part. Distler accompanies the motets with Non-musical verses that narrate a dialogue between death and his numerous victims.While on the present recording some of the victims' roles are spoken by the singers themselves, Heinz-Martin Benecke lends death his charismatic voice.
