Biography: The Crossing is a twenty-four-member professional chamber choir conducted by Donald Nally dedicated to new music. Originally formed by a group of friends in 2005, the ensemble has since grown exponentially and “has made a name for itself in recent years as a champion of new music.” - New York Times 2/14. We do not belong to any particular geographical area or church denomination. In over 25 years, nearly 400 people from all backgrounds have sung with us - often for the first time in an English Cathedral. The number continues to grow year by year. Martin Hall, our founder, became 'Director Emeritus' in Autumn 2006 and Matthew O' Donovan took over the post of Director in his stead. Because of the way we meet, we don't require formal auditions in advance, but new singers are expected to be excellent sight readers and to have a good choral tone.  less

The set was recorded and produced in December of 2010 by Allen Larsen in the CWU music building concert hall. The poems, by Joanne Gunnerson, were set by composer John Muehleisen. Bounty and Aversion to Carrots were written for the Seattle choir Opus 7, The third song, RAH!, was commissioned by CWU. Founded in 1970 by a group of enthusiastic amateur singers, our repertoire ranges from the great classical choral works to modern contemporary pieces. Under the skilled direction of Howard Kane, who was appointed musical director in 2008, and ably assisted by Robert Woods the choir has grown in size and reputation. Rehearsals Monday nights are rehearsal nights which are held in Frodsham Methodist Church, Kingsley Rd, WA6 6BA from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. New members are welcome to come along and give us a try. We rehearse from September through to July for our four main concerts, which are held in Frodsham, and also take our music to other venues in the area. Groups of singers from within the choir are available to sing at weddings and the choir regularly puts on events to raise money for local charities.  less

Coffee chocolate, and cafe au lait Ivoried-saffron and saffroned-ivory, Bronze and brass, copper and rose gold, Tea and pale butter, golden almond, Infinite varieties of browns and tans, Pale rose, pink, and soft rose cream, Mahogany, oak, cedar, and champagne. These are the colors of people I see, Not black and white, not yellow and red. Those false colors no longer will do. Give us a palette to paint us true.  less

The United States doesn't have the history of boy choirs that many European countries do but we can accomplish great things by educating boys in the art of singing and performing the finest music in the boy choir tradition. Teaching young boys the commitment and work necessary to accomplish a goal develops character, discipline, leadership, global awareness, and a strong commitment to excellence. The fortis Boy choir can and will accomplish these goals. We will help boys to feel good about what they can be and take these lessons with them into their future families and businesses.  less
