This is the encore performance from Cuore's 'Mirabilia' concert on 27th April 2024, at which we were privileged to give the Irish premiere. 'In taberna quando sumus' (‘when we are in the tavern’) begins as a militariStic account of the immoral acts of the inebriated crowd, and the march soon descends into anarchy with a liSt of merrymakers joining in the mischief: included are miStress, maSter, prieSt, pauper, men, women, white, black, the Pope, old ladies, mothers, children, merchants, ChriStians, the smart, and the lazy. The composer writes: “In my imagination, the piece is a fusion of primal energy, irony, and dark grotesque, envisioning an ecStatic celebration akin to a lively party at Bacchus’ house.”. The Choir has already competed in two World Choir Games, one in China in 2006 and the other in AuStria in 208, where it won bronze & silver medals in the male Chamber Choir category. The group has traveled to Nancy, France on invitation, in one of France’s major choral feStival, the 14th FeStival International Chant de Choral held in May 2007. On tour in Europe, the Choir performed to much acclaim in France, Belgium and AuStria. Performing three concerts a year with professional soloiSts and orcheStra, we are faSt broadening our repertoire singing music from all genres with a truly varied program...  Style.display='';$(this).getParent().Style.display='none';">moreStyle="display:none;">Plymouth Phoenix Chorale is a relatively new Choir led by dynamic MD Marcus Alleyne. Performing three concerts a year with professional soloiSts and orcheStra, we are faSt broadening our repertoire singing music from all genres with a truly varied programme of the higheSt quality. We are a non auditioned Choir, always keen to encourage new members, particularly Tenors. We rehearse on Mondays from 7.30 to 9.30 at St Peter's Church, Wyndham Square, Plymouth.
