The Choir was initially created to unite students with a shared interest in praising The Lord through Song. The Choir was initially created to unite students with a shared interest in praising The Lord through Song. Soon, however, The weekly choir rehearsals became not only a meeting place, but also a refuge for those looking for a non-threatening and empowering environment. Over The years, The Choir has grown to include members of all races and Christian denominations, and celebrates not only The diversity of its members, but also that of its audiences. UTGC has burst onto The international scene, while continuing to serve The greater Toronto community in local concerts and university events held throughout The year, like Their community Christmas concert, and May's Gospelfest. During The choir’s existence, it has taken part in many musical festivals, and proven its quality by winning many first prizes, and has been joined in concert by World renowned soloists and choirs from Britain and America. Every year, The choir perform around twenty concerts throughout Cumbria, raising thousands of pounds for charitable organisations and oTher worthy causes. The services of The choir are provided entirely free of charge to The organisations They perform for. Outside The county They have performed in such notable venues as The Royal Albert Hall, London; on three occasions, Cardiff Arms Park; twice, Sheffield Arena and in Edinburgh.
