The 15 strong member choir, under the direction of Berima Amo, draws on the youth living in the Amsterdam area especially in the Southeast parts. The choir is dedicated to sharing the joy of faith through indigenous music with audiences around Europe. We specialize in singing indidenous and folk music music from Ghana, West Africa, proudly exhibiting, learning and teaching our African heritage to the world. GCC meets every monday 7pm to sing, discuss about life, encourage each other and share ideas.  less

Kokopelli has been a featured ensemble at many events, provincially, nationally, and internationally. These include the Rocky Mountain National Music Festival, Podium (the biannual conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities), the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the International Society of Music Educators conference, and others. In addition to many North American cities, the choir has toured to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia. Kokopelli is often the ambassador for the choir association and as such, has received several awards for their work with youth, music education, and the African Projects Fund. Le Chœur d’Enfants Sotto Voce, composé d’une soixantaine d’enfants originaires de toute la région parisienne, est une véritable « famille artistique » qui a créé en 1993 par Scott Alan Prouty et accueilli par le Théâtre du Châtelet depuis 18 ans. The word 'vacilando' is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of the journey rather than focusing on the destination. As such, the choir will take a more casual approach to music-making, with fewer performances throughout the season than Òran, our young adult choir. The group will still place an emphasis on all the things that make Kokopelli's music-making unique, however: community, multiculturalism, choral excellence, and multifaceted performances.  less

The three Christmas songs often heard by ordinary people are The First Noel, Jingle Bells, and Santa Claus is Comin' To Town. Otniel does not only combine the three songs in the order of the first, second and third songs. In a certain part, namely at the end of the song, he combines the three songs to be sung simultaneously with the accompaniment of applause and Christmas bells. This song has a unique dynamic, in which Otniel wants the choir singing it to invite the entire audience to sing along and the singers must help convince the audience that the joy of Christmas is with them. Launched in 2006, this choir for treble and changing voices continues to expand its horizons, develop its membership and satisy a variety of musical tastes. The choir has toured throughout British Columbia and Alberta. In July 2011, they sang in Ottawa at the Unisong festival for Canada Day, and in July 2013 the group was featured at the presitigious and exciting international Festival 500 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Wherever the choir travels, we spread the joy of music-making and hope to bring communities together through song. Shumayela offers a focus on thorough and excellent music education, with singers learning about healthy vocal production, the body-voice connection, and vibrant performance presence as well as a strong emphasis on musical literacy, music theory, and sightsinging skills.
