We are a women's non auditioned choir. We sing across a wide range of genres from light classical through to pop and rock. We sing in 3-4 parts, and while working hard on our developing Sound, we like to have fun!

Members saw the need for a name which reflected their distinctive Sound and musical objectives. They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting the eclectic and often unusual repertoire of the choir. In using the archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – the choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich choral tradition whilst establishing itself in the 21st century choral landscape. The choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact the world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in the local WA and wider Australian musical community. As a strong supporter of emerging young composers and Australian composers, Voyces showcases their works on a regular basis. less_link" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

Morna Edmundson, Artistic Director, takes us through two of her warmups, 1) using folk song melodies to encourage legato singing and natural phrasing and 2) "Umbrellas" to ease the top of a woman's range. Elektra's mandate is "to inspire and lead in the choral art form through excellence in performance and the creation, exploration, and celebration of women's repertoire." Your thoughts on the video? let's start a conversation! Repertoire referenced in Episode One: Un Canadien errant, Quebec folk song, arr.
