The group was Set up to perform exciting vocal material at a variety of events, and to give men and women who love singing, the platform to get involved in a fun and sociable musical experience. The Voice Of The Town family has now grown and not only do we have our choirs in Newcastle and Birmingham, but we also have choirs in Edinburgh and Glasgow.  

The women of The Vocal Art Ensemble perform Ro Agura's "Hotaru Koi" (Ho, Firefly) as part of their May 2011 concert "Cloudburst--Sounds of Nature". To Set the mood, the men behind the women are providing 'firefly' effects using laser keychains.

It was recorded on 5th December 2010 in the Harvey Nichols Espresso Bar in Leeds' magnificent Victoria Quarter in the first of St Peter's Singers' now-traditional Sunday evening carol performances there. The choir is directed by Dr Simon Lindley, its Music Director since the Singers' formation in June 1977.
