Some youth Beatwaves interviewed disclosed that they preferred Music that would make them dance and that choral Music sometimes was boring. Nonetheless, there is a group of youth who have come together to form a Choir which has made a mark both at home and abroad. The Winneba Youth Choir, known to be the number one choral Music group in the country was founded in May 1989, under the patronage of Mr. George Mensah-Essilfie and Mr. John Francis Arthur-Yamoah (Paa John). The Choir has progressed steadily to the extent that it is now recognized as the most outstanding youth Choir of the nation. In March 1998 the Choir was incorporated and regist¬ered as a non-profit making association, with the objective of providing a platform for the education and development of the youth in Winneba and surrounding towns through the medium of singing. In 2010 it won the ATKV Animato Children's Choir Finals and the KKNK "Kanna" prize for best Musical production (2013.) During 2014 the SCCC won the "Musica Sacra" Open category of the World Choral Games, in Riga (2014) and all categories of the ATKV Animato Finals (2014), being awarded the prize of "Choir of the Competition." It has recorded eight cd's, one dvd; has toured Europe seven times and Talented choristers from several schools in the Garden Route region of South Africa's Western Cape Province are auditioned and rehearse every Friday in the city of George, under the direction of conductor Jan-Erik Swart. They perform a repertoire of up to 50 pieces per year, and perform full-length concerts between 26-33 times per year. We are located in Oslo an has a very broad repertoar from medieval to contemporary Music. We sing in many languages and in many genres; classical, church Music, romantic songs, folk Music, jazz; with our main focus in classical Music. We have been singing for 15 years and held concerts in several European capitals. Taking our singing seriously, we are a very social singers who likes to perform with other Choirs or Musicians.  

The present church Choir, one of the finest Choirs of it’s type in the UK, is an excellent Mixed-voice Choir with about 30 members who are currently brought up to Music by Stephen Dagg, Director of Music (also Director of the Centre for Young Musicians, a...  moreThe present church Choir, one of the finest Choirs of it’s type in the UK, is an excellent Mixed-voice Choir with about 30 members who are currently brought up to Music by Stephen Dagg, Director of Music (also Director of the Centre for Young Musicians, a division of the Guildhall School, and the London Schools Symphony Orchestra). The Choir’s repertoire of sacred Music ranges from the 16th to the 21st centuries, including a recently commissioned and premièred work by Roxanna Panufnik. The Choir sings to a cathedral standard every week at the Sung Eucharist on Sunday and Choral evensong every fourth Sunday. It also sings at special services during the year and goes on tour each summer. Recent tours have been to Bordeaux (2014). Dordodgne/Aquitaine (2013), and Rome (2011, 2012).  less

Renaissance, 19th century, modern choral Music, pop, .... - we like nearly every theme and style. We try to use original languages and love to engage us in Music which is not often heard. We go on stage in self-organized concerts, but perform in smaller occasions, too.
