(This is a variant of the tune to which Auld Lang Syne is usually sung—the melodic shape is almost identical, the difference lying in the tempo and rhythm.)
It is performed here by the dwsChorale, with a cheeky insertion of a hornpipe!

Comin' thro' the rye
Gin a body kiss a body

When comin' thro' the rye.
Gin a body meet a body
Comin' frae the toun
Gin a body greet a body
Need a body froun?

Gin a body meet a body,
Comin' frae the well,

Need a body tell?

But what his name or whaur his hame

Unfortunately, a ladybug lands on her neck, however, which distracts him. He then removes the ladybug, but sadly the kiss flies off forever!

Wheatbelt by Iain Grandage, text by Kevin Gillam. The work portrays the hot summer of a Western Australian wheat-farming scene. Grandage's piece goes to the heart of the landscape as does the original POEM. Heat, hot easterly breezes, the view from a rocking chair on an old verandah, sunburnt bones, running your hands across the wheat - all these images are described in the music.
Voyces is a small choral ensemble based in Perth, Western Australia. They specialise in contemporary choral repertoire.
This is a live recording from Voyces 'Australiana' concert from August 2012 at the Perth Town Hall. They are conducted by Dr. Robert Braham. less
