The heart of Dozan wa Awtar Music Establishment is singing and community building. Major activities revolve around three groups: Dozan wa Awtar Singers, Dozan and Atfal Dozan. Dozan wa Awtar Singers is an innovative large community choir ranging from 40-60 singers that performs three main concerts a year. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of genres including classical, musical theater, Arabic and world music . Dozan is a chamber choir that experiments with new Arabic arrangements and other world music and specializes in smaller tailored performances as well as festivals and competitions. The last group is Atfal Dozan, Dozan wa Awtar’s children’s choir which was formed in 2011.
Our latest achievements include receiving two Gold Diplomas when competing in the 8th World Choir Games held in Riga, Latvia in 2014. The Games included 27,000 singers from 400 choirs, representing 73 countries. This was the first time Jordan was represented in an international choral competition. Our accomplishments were celebrated by all, including Her Majesty Queen Rania, and were communicated in all main newspapers in Jordan.
Dozan wa Awtar also raised more than JD10,000 during two sold-out concerts under the title, “A Prayer for Gaza”. (http://jordantimes.com/dozan-wa-awtar-concerts-raise-funds-for-gaza). All proceeds were donated to help the victims of the war in Gaza. less
