About Me
Simon Fletcher has considerable musical and theatrical experience honed over a 40 year musical career.
Having sung both as a professional and an amateur in solo and chorus performances in some of the world's most famous venues - Notre Dame and Sacré Coeur in Paris; Cologne Cathedral; Royal Festival Hall, London; The Dome Theatre, Brighton - he has been performing since the age of 10 and has a particular passion for close harmony through all styles of vocal music.
With experience in the world of acting through the medium of musical theatre, he has taken a number of leading and principle stage roles :
1) The Baker in Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim
2) Lamar in Godspell
3) Jean Valjean in a workshop production of excerpts from Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre, London
4) Multi roles in a production of the Chester Mystery Cycle Passion Plays with two amateur theatre companies in the UK
5) The Policeman in Whistle Down the Win
6) Hines in The Pajama Game
Shortly after moving to France, a spell with the International Players in Paris led to a memorable performance as Bottom in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare at the community theatre in Le Pecq on the outskirts of Paris.
Simon's has also directed theatrical productions as Assistant Director and a principle chorus member for a highly successful production of Return to the Forbidden Planet by Bob Carlton that played to packed houses and received rave reviews. This was followed by his directing debut when he presented a youth production entitled Shake, Ripple 'n' Roll.
He has also been Chorus Master and appeared in several amateur pantomime productions.
Other performing experience was gained by working with a semi-professional chorale in Sussex, which performed a repertoire and to a style upon which the International Singers have since been modelled. This group performed a very wide array of music and was highly respected on the south coast. Further performances took place at a large number of venues around Kent with a band that performed typical dance music for dinners and raised a considerable amount of money for a Kent-based charity for the mentally disabled.

This anglophone chorale was created in 2006 by their Musical Director, Simon Fletcher. The International Singers hold a unique status amongst choirs in France by means of our repertoire and composition.

Bringing together very nearly 40 mixed voice singers all sharing the same passion, they hail from countries from around the world and representative of 4 continents. The repertoire consists principally of contemporary music with anglo-saxon origins and from the very best of musical theatre as seen in London's West End or on Broadway in New York.
The International Singers are beginning to wow the people of Lille and the surrounding areas of Northern France with concerts in public venues as well as at private functions organised by civic bodies as well as associations etc.
Musical Objectives
The International Singers is a choir structured around anglo-saxon values and traditions. Our rehearsals are rigorous and professional whilst at the same time maintaining an air of fun and friendliness.
