We rehearsed for most of the day in two-choir sections, with our Four choral directors, Scott Inglis-Kidger, Sarah Tenant-Flowers, Riccardo Bonci and Jonny Davies. After lunch we began to put the sections together. At 4pm we brought all 8 choirs together and Scott Inglis-Kidger led a most thrilling final performance. The day marked the end of the 2012 workshops but fear not, our 2013 Choral Workshops series - Perfect Playlist - is now live on our website. platinumconsort.com/perfect-playlist.html We look forward to seeing you soon! Four traditional Tsáchila Songs, arr. Michael Sample. Recorded live on December 14, 2014, at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts in fort Lauderdale, Florida. Performed by the Chamber Singers ensemble of the Girl Choir of South Florida. Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson, Percussion: Bradley Peterson. This indigenous community, often referred to as The Colorados, is located in the northern coastal region of Ecuador. In the face of modernization, music serves as a tool for this group to preserve their history, traditions, and culture. Tsáchilas music-making includes dance, philosophy, spirituality, cultural traditions, and community involvement with a strong connection to nature and respect for the land. By singing this piece, our ensemble is actively helping to protect and promote the Tsáchila community. A portion of the proceeds from our purchase of the score has been sent to the community to assist in the preservation of their culture.
