Since its founding, the choir has had about 80 active members who enjoy the lively nature of Gospel music and who are inspired by the message of Gospels and Spirituals. The choir sings this style of music in all its forms, ranging from simple three or four part all male/female vocal arrangements, to four part mixed arrangements. As well, they also perform more complex eight or ten part scores featuring solo parts which are sung by soloists from the choir. Due to active co-operation with various youth organisations, this choir consists of many different generations who all get on well with one and other.

Since its foundation, the choir is in continuous improvement and has been involved in many workshops with Prof.Mustafa Apaydın which were organized twice a year. The choir has a mixed membership including music teachers, musicians and amateur choir singers.
The choir’s name is inspired by the famous story written by William Shakespeare and Guiseppe Verdi’s famous opera called Othello and the Othello Castle which is located in the city of Famagusta. The city where the choir is based is known as “Othello’s City Famagusta” all around the world.

The Chamber choir sings a varied repertoire of classical liturgical and secular music from the Renaissance to the present, as well as arrangements of spirituals and songs from around the world, Israeli and Jewish music, and more. The choir performs regularly in churches and concert spaces in Jerusalem and around Israel and has performed in festivals and programs in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United States, and Switzerland.

The Surrey Children's choir family represents 3 choirs, a Junior Training choir, an Intermediate Training choir, and the Senior Surrey Children's choir. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber choir, a mixed young adult chorus... moreThe Surrey Children's choir family represents 3 choirs, a Junior Training choir, an Intermediate Training choir, and the Senior Surrey Children's choir. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber choir, a mixed young adult chorus, and a community adult chorus.
The Junior and Intermediate Training choirs (JTC and ITC) provide a program of sequentially developed skills which prepare choristers for admission into the Surrey Children's choir. The training choirs perform annually at the Family Christmas Concert and Year End concert (held in May of each year). They also often compete at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival, always with great results. The training choirs may also perform at various events in the community.
