We uphold the tradition and art of male choral singing through the camaraderie of choral membership and in entertaining our audiences. We give our own concerts several times a year in Norwich and beyond, as well as appear at events by invitation. We were Special Guests of 'The People's Soprano' Rebecca Newman at her 2012 and Spring 2016 tour Norwich appearances and we put up a team to challenge the Eggheads for quiz supremacy! We also hold Open Rehearsals at the beginning of each singing season when we invite adult gentlemen to see whether male choral singing is for them, or just to see our singing men at work! Domenico Savio" was born in 1999 with the desire to build through music, experience of collaboration and sharing. Over the years the interest in polyphony, the study of the repertoire and the vocal approach has grown. The group has joined the A.R.S. cori (Regional Association of Choirs of Sicily) and consequently to FENIARCO (National Association of choirs) with the involvement in all the regional and national demonstrations promoted by the aforementioned organism: exhibitions, concerts and gatherings for choirs. In 2010 it won the ATKV Animato Children's Choir Finals and the KKNK "Kanna" prize for best Musical production (2013.) During 2014 the SCCC won the "Musica Sacra" Open category of the World Choral Games, in Riga (2014) and all categories of the ATKV Animato Finals (2014), being awarded the prize of "Choir of the Competition." It has recorded eight cd's, one dvd; has toured Europe seven times and Talented choristers from several schools in the Garden Route region of South Africa's Western Cape Province are auditioned and rehearse every Friday in the city of George, under the direction of conductor Jan-Erik Swart. They perform a repertoire of up to 50 pieces per year, and perform full-length concerts between 26-33 times per year. The choir’s work was interrupted for several years during its members’ academic education, as well as during their participation in different Musical projects. The present line-up has been steady since 2006. Their repertoire offers a variety of styles of great difficulty and chromatic richness, and tries to take advantage of the cultural and geographic circumstances which make of the Canary Islands a multicultural place. A remarkable feature of the group is their willingness to innovate within the choral music. Their versatility and the variety of repertoire they face can be seen in the different projects they have taken part in: short operas, official or private events, festivals, and monographic concerts on different subjects.
