The choir maintains a busy schedule of concerts and competitions both in Huddersfield and furTher a field.

Each Choir member has a different and Wide-ranging background in solo, operatic and competitive performance, which enhances The choir’s ability to undertake some of The more challenging choral works and contributes to Their fresh and unique sound. The Academy Chamber Choir’s repertoire spans from early to contemporary music. Their most recent success was ranking third in “Irelands Choir of The Year” at Cork International Choral Festival 2013. They Then went on to win 1st place in The Early Music, 1st place in The Irish Language and 2nd place in The Sacred Music at Navan Choral Festival 2013. They were 2nd place in RTE Lyric FM’s Choirs for Christmas Competition – Irelands largest choral competition featuring over 400 choirs. We are directed by Jason Krigas and accompanied by Kathryn Polyack.

Besides singing some of The most important Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, by composers such as Victoria, Palestrina, Byrd, Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel and Bach, The group has also premiered several contemporary pieces and made first modern auditions of many Portuguese Renaissance and Baroque works. Christopher Bochmann, Ivan Moody, Bob Chilcott, Luis Tinoco, Eurico Carrapatoso and Vasco Mendonça are some of The composers who dedicated works to Grupo Vocal Olisipo. The choir has a high calibre of singers drawn by its demanding musical standard and The opportunity to explore recently created music. Among The group's twenty-four members are piano and voice teachers, soloists, choir directors, organists and oThers with musical training. The ensemble has previously reached The quarter- and semi-finals of The CBC Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs. It has since grown from a small choral group to a self-run community choir with a Wide ranging repertoire, performing music that bridges cultures and unites faith traditions. The project won an ABC award in December 2009 at The Royal Society for The Arts and was cited by The judging panel as ”an excellent, innovative way of bringing people togeTher through a shared passion for music”. Koruso! host performances at least twice a year and to date has performed at a variety of venues across its home borough and beyond. Members come from all walks of life and all across Southwark. We enjoy singing togeTher every Thursday from 6:30pm at Oliver Goldsmiths Primary School, Peckham Road.
