Our aim is to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire consists of both traditional and new songs from many cultures. the majority are sung a cappella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony. the choir is divided into three chapters, each practicing the same material on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Cabios. the choir has already competed in two World Choir Games, one in China in 2006 and the other in Austria in 208, where it won bronze & silver medals in the male chamber choir category. the group has traveled to Nancy, France on invitation, in one of France’s major choral festival, the 14th Festival international Chant de Choral held in May 2007. On tour in Europe, the choir performed to much acclaim in France, Belgium and Austria. Cantores Celestes commissioned five of the pieces without grants of any kind (two by Tony Quarrington, two by Anne Lindsay and one by Clifford Ford). the music will make you happy and be the sound track for your day. the fiddle soars. the double bass grooves as the guitar and piano support the voices of Cantores Celestes. there is trumpet, flute, organ, mandolin and harmonica. there are love songs and odes to the sea. A wildly different tune called Hauntings is based on a scary tale from New Brunswick.
