The choir’s repertoire imaginatively balances unaccompanied choral music from the Renaissance period with 19th - 21st century works. Although relatively small in number, the choir is accomplished in singing music in both double and triple choir form. Particular specialisms include the works of William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and Tómas Luis da Victoria. The choir has performed in many prestigious venues in Europe, including Notre-Dame in Paris, Chartres cathedral and VersailLes. Events such as the Prague Spring International Festival (Czech Republic) have also featured the choir. In 2006, in Budapest, the choir performed Tallis’s towering 40-part motet Spem in Alium, with the internationally renowned Budapest Monteverdi choir. The choir forms p...  moreAbout the choir The University of Pretoria Youth choir is a multi-cultural choir consisting of 90 members aged between 14 and 19 years and representing 33 Secondary Schools in the greater Tshwane area. They are all amateur singers. The choir forms part of the multi-choir model of the University of Pretoria, the others being the UP Jacaranda Children’s choir, UP Camerata.  

Girls from 14-24 with exceptional voices from the Southern Gauteng region are welcome to audition and join the choir.

The choir is formed on 11. 04. 2007. The members of the choir are professional musicians. The members of the choir are professional musicians. Until now, the choir took part in the projects of the National Theater and The Opera House of Bitola (Heraclea and Likini and Fiddler on the roof); choir seminar in Solun (Greece);many whole concerts and participation in humanitarian conserts. On our programme are represented all type of choir music, accapela and music with instruments.  

formed in November 2005, the choir has performed around England, WaLes, parts of France and Germany. Members of the choir also run a training choir to train other choirs to perform Gospel music. Members of the choir also run a training choir to train other choirs to perform Gospel music. The small training choir is able to travel anywhere. To date they have travelled to Cornwall, Devon, Derbyshire, WaLes, France and Germany. The whole choir is mixed, with approximately 50 singers and performs around 30 times a year. The choir has raised over £63,000 for charity over their time together.
