We sing music from the Early 1900's through to more modern songs such as Billy Joel, The Rat Pack etc. The chorus focuses on improving singing techniques and making chords "ring" while at the same time simply having fun. We love it when a 4 part chord is correctly tuned and the chord just locks together and harmonics (or overtones) ring out loud and strong. We compete every year in local contest as a mean of measuring our progress against similar groups but we just love to perform for the public and so our contest activities are very well balanced with public performance. We also have a great time together as one of our goals is to provide a place where men can gather and enjoy their interest in singing. The Harbour Capital Chorus was formed in Wellington on February 4th, 1988 following pioneering work by the “Co-ordinated Chemists” Quartet for several years prior to that. The choir gives and annual Easter and Christmas performance, an annual Summer Concert and European Tour. Their repertoire ranges from Handel’s Zadok the Priest to Karl Jenkin’s The Armed Man. The Choir has performed in many major venues around in Europe, including St Nicolas Church Prague to St Mark’s Venice, and has sung in many commercial concerts including premiere of James Brett’s Book of Dreams and performed for the Queen’s arrival at Bushy Park during her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee, where the choir also deputised for the Opera Babes.
