The first of the three verses is sung in German, the second in Korean, the last in English - so each Choir has to learn to pronounce the language of the other, an adventure! With simple, poetic words, "Song without borders" deals with the chance of children to create a future worth living for the adults of tomorrow through mobility, empathy and energy. The music to it illustrates in the first verse the sea as a metaphor of eternal movement, in the second the feeling together, in the third the positive action of holding together.  less

The Choir performs every Sunday evening in the Roman Catholic cathedral of St. Colman's, a majestic building situated on a hill in the town famed for being the last port of call for the Titanic. The membership of the Choir has grown considerably in the last five years and it now boasts more than 30 voices. The Choir is a previous winner at the world famous Cork Choral Festival and has travelled to Vienna, London and Italy to perform at various events. In 2009 the Choir was honored to be asked to sing in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City for the Sunday liturgy. That same year they also performed at Westminster Cathedral. They have been asked back to St. Peter's in July 2013 to perform again. I was on the 1 train on Manhattan’s West Side one day when I saw the poem “Heaven,” by Patrick Phillips. I was immediately captured by the simple beauty of Patrick’s poem, and the mystery of the first line, “It will be the past.” I loved his vision and thought immediately that I wanted to compose music for this poem. Mystery, joy, wonder. “Heaven” is the winner of choral composition competitions sponsored by both the Manhattan Choral Ensemble and Georgia College.
