Han...  moreOur next concert will be : Handel : Israel in Egypt On 16 November 2025 at 7.30 All Saints Church Kingston will become the stage for intensely powerful musical drama as Kingston Choral Society opens their 75th season with a truly remarkable work. Handel’s Israel in Egypt is one of Handel’s most lavish and dramatic oratorios. Unusually, the soloists’ contributions are secondary as the choir is given the starring role in the turbulent narrative, relating the story of the Biblical plagues, the Israelites’ flight from Egypt via the parting of the Red Sea, and their triumph over the Pharaoh’s army. The plot unfolds in a series of thrilling and startlingly inventive choruses. It is fitting that KCS should introduce their 75th Anniversary season with a Handel oratorio. Director, Pierre Massie, has composed many original pieces for the choir, as well as creating lively and contemporary arrangements of traditional carols. The release of their first CD Qui creavit celum, celebrated the Stairwell Carollers' 20th anniversary in 1997. In 2000 they released I Saw a Swete Semly Syght and in 2003 Mourning Dove. Their very first madrigal CD, Audite nova, was released in October of 2006 and their fourth Xmas CD Laudemus cum armonia in 2009. 2012 marked the release of their first CD of sacred songs from the Renaissance, Cantate Domino, Their fifth Xmas CD O magnum mysterium is now available for purchase. Winner of the 2010 OMFA provincial competition, they are ranked amongst the best of Canada's choirs.
